FAQs: Student Access Self-Service –>The Student Center
IMPORTANT: To access Student Center, you MUST click on HR/Campus Solutions from the first menu after login, then look under Self Service –> Student Center.
Q1. How do I find out my enrollment date/time? click
  • A1.
    Log into your CUNYfirst account,select HR/Campus Solutionsfrom the first menu after login, then look under–> Self Service –> Enrollment –>Enrollment Dates. Important: Note both your enrollment date AND time.
    You can also see your Enrollment dates by selecting HR/Campus Solutionsfrom the first menu after login, then going to Self Service –> Student Center and you will see your enrollment date listed on the right side under “Enrollment Dates.” To see your enrollment time, you must click on“Details.”
    Open Enrollment Dates are not used by City College but this feature cannot be disabled for City College, therefore “Begin Date” is listed after “Last Date to Enroll.” NOTE: If you did not take classes during the current semester, you will need to get readmitted in order to be able to register for next semester’s classes. Q2. Where do I see my current class schedule? click
  • A2. To see your current class schedule, select HR/Campus Solutions from the first menu after login, then look under “Self Service –> Student Center” – NOT “Self Service —> Enrollment.”
Q3. Where do I see the Searchable Schedule of Classes? click
  • A3. To view Searchable Schedule of Classes, log into your CUNYfirst account, select HR/Campus Solutions from the first menu after login, then click on Self Service —> Student Center —> Search for Classes (green button on the top right of the page.)
Q4. I’ve placed my classes in the shopping cart. Does that mean I’ve registered for those classes? click
  • A4. No, putting classes in your shopping cart does NOT mean you have enrolled in those classes. You MUST click the “Finish Enrolling” button, which will only appear on your assigned enrollment date and time.
Q5. Where can I see my unofficial transcript? click
  • A5. To view your unofficial transcript, log into your CUNYfirst account, select HR/Campus Solutions from the first menu after login, then click on Self Service —> Academic Records —> View Unofficial Transcript.
Q6. I see a Negative Service Indicator (a small red crossed out circle) when I log into my CUNYfirst account. What does that mean? click
  • A6. If you see a Negative Service Indicator mark (a small red crossed out circle) in your CUNYfirst account that means that you have a hold/stop. Click on the red circle to determine the academic or administrative office that issued the stop/hold on your record. Reconcile the stop/hold by calling or visiting the issuing office.If you see Negative Service Indicators on your record from other CUNY colleges, you will NOT be prohibited by the system from registering for classes at City College.
Q7. I forgot to write down my Empl ID; how do I retrieve it in CUNYfirst? click
  • A7. To see your Empl ID, select HR/Campus Solutions from the first menu after login, then look under Self Service –> Student Center and your Empl ID will be displayed on the top section.
Q8. I logged in to CUNYfirst but it says the name of another college in the banner, not City. What do I do? click
  • A8. Once you’re logged in, on the left hand menu select Self Service, then select Student Center. Scroll down and edit your Personal Information. Hit ‘Save’ and log out.
    When you log back in in about 30 minutes, you should notice that the banner now reads “City College.”
Q9. I’m graduating in September, do I use CUNYfirst to apply for graduation? click
A10. Social Security Number is needed to claim a CUNYfirst account. I don’t have one. How do I claim my account? click
    • A10. To claim your account, you will need to enter your First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth and the last 4 digits of your Social Security number. If you do not have a Social Security number, please use the last 4 digits of your 9-digit City College Admissions-assigned ID. If you don’t remember your 9-digit ID number, go to the CUNYFirst Helpdesk (NAC 1/301) or the Registrar’s Office (A-102) with a valid government-issued photo ID or City College ID, and someone will be able to look it up for you.

Q1. What’s the URL to login to CUNYfirst? click
Q2. What is an EMPLID and why is it important? click
  • A2. EMPLID is a unique eight-digit personal identification number used in the CUNYfirst system used as a Student ID or Employee ID. It’s important to record your eight-digit EMPLlD! From now on, it will be used to identify you in CUNYfirst and across campus.
    Also, please make a note of your CUNYfirst username (which includes your first dot last name followed by the last two digits of your EMPLlD).
Q3. What are the password requirements for CUNYfirst? click
  • A3. Your password must be:
    • at least 8 characters long
      contain at least 1 uppercase letter
      contain at least one numeric char OR one special character
    • must not be one of 4 previous passwords.

    Note: Your password will expire 90 days after the last password change. The system will prompt you to change your password.

Q4. What do I do if I forget my password? click
  • A4. Visit the CUNYfirst website, choose “Forgot your Password,” and follow the instructions.
Q5. Can I use my personal e-mail for CUNYfirst? click
  • A5. No. You are required to use your City College e-mail account.
  • If you have not activated your City College student e-mail account please do so now.

Q6. Does CUNYfirst work on Macs? click
  • A6. Yes, but you have to use Mozilla Firefox.
Q7. Which browser is recommended for CUNYfirst access? click
  • A7. Recommended browsers:
    • For PC’s Internet Explorer is the best choice.
    • For Mac’s CUNYfirst will also work on Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.
